The PPI, Milton Roy Dyna/Magtm magnetic mixer is ideally suited for continuous stirred reactors (CSTR) and batch reactors where mixing and agitation must be contamination-free and leakage cannot be tolerated. Dyna/Mag Magnetic Mixer

The Dyna/Mag mixer is available in several models, offering power up to 25 hp with operating ratings up to 6,000 psi (41 MPa) and 650° F (343°C).

Contamination-free, packless design.

The most important feature of the PPI, Milton Roy Dyna/Mag mixer is the ability to efficiently and economically transmit torque through a high-strength, corrosion-resistant pressure housing, without using mechanical seals or packing. The drive coupling, being entirely magnetic, eliminates not only the seals, but also the problems associated with rotating seals, such as leakage, contamination, and constant maintenance.

New direct-drive magnetic mixers. Dyna/Mag mixers are available with direct-drive, variable speed electric motors from 1/6 HP to 25 HP. The new mixers can be retrofitted easily to existing vessels.

Simple operation.

PPI, Milton Roy Dyna/Mag magnetic mixers are noncontaminating agitation devices. They have two rare-earth magnet sets. The driven magnet set is totally encapsulated in a seal-welded housing integral to the mixer shaft. The driver magnet set is located in the rotating outer housing containing the main ballbearing assembly. A powerful magnetic coupling is established between the driver magnet set and the driven magnet set. Motor driven V-belts rotate the outer housing containing the driver magnet set, which in turn rotates the driven magnet set and mixer shaft.

Minimal maintenance.

Maintenance is reduced and simplified by eliminating rotating seals and packing. The quick-opening pressure closure, located in the top of the pressure housing, is easily removed, permitting rapid access to the interior of the mixer for cleaning. A purge connection is available in the pressure closure. The entire mixer can be autoclaved at temperatures to 250°F (121°C). All interior surfaces are smooth with gradual transitions to reduce the possibility of product buildup. The result is a mixer that is easy to clean between batches and runs.

Dyna/Mag laboratory mixers (MM-016 shown here) can be disassembled and asembled in minutes for fast, easy cleaning. Only a single wrench is required for assembly/disassembly; simply remove the main nut. Shaft and bearings can be removed and reinstalled without the use of tools.

Process compatibility.

The PPI, Milton Roy Dyna/Mag magnetic mixer features a pressure housing of alloy A-286, age-hardened, high-strength stainless steel and 316 stainless steel internal process-wetted parts, except for the shaft bearings. The mixer is also available with HastelloyTM C276 or other high-alloy process-wetted parts. The bearings are an ultra-high-purity carbon designed to withstand a wide range of operating temperatures.

Speed indication

Hall-effect sensor measures driven magnet speed. Exact rotational speed of agitator shaft can be monitored.

Packless design

All rotary seals are eliminated so that even the most hazardous fluids and gases can be handled safely and economically.

No lubrication

Stuffing-boxes, packing, and their attendant lubrication are eliminated. Contamination-free agitation is achieved.

Integral cooling jacket

Maintains magnets and bearings at proper temperature for optimum magnet efficiency. Allows a higher, more efficient rate of heat transfer.
